The 26-year-old Lang finalized a €25 million transfer from Dutch champions PSV to Serie A champions Napoli and swiftly picked up his first Italian phrases.
"The first word I learned in Italian is stanco (tired). I said it after my first training session at Napoli. Here you do a lot of work, a lot of running, but I think it's beneficial to step out of the comfort zone I was in back in the Netherlands."
Lang was on the verge of joining Napoli in January, but PSV, engaged in a fierce title race, prevented the winger from leaving.
"PSV said no. Now Napoli have returned to bring me in, and I am embarking on an exciting journey. I have put in a lot of effort for this, and now I'm here, ready to dribble, provide assists, and score goals. I am the type of player that fans come to the stadium to watch."
'Conte is ideal'
The 26-year-old Dutchman also discussed the differences in gameplay between the Netherlands and Italy, particularly regarding the role of wingers, who must also defend in Serie A. "In the Netherlands, you typically maintain possession against most opponentss, but I'm very eager to develop my defensive skills."
The former Ajax academy product recognized that playing under manager Antonio Conte will enhance his game.
"It's time for me to evolve into a complete player, and that's one of the reasons I came here, to improve defensively and tactically. I believe Conte is ideal.
"I'm proficient at dribbling, assisting, and scoring. I understand I need to enhance my defensive capabilities, but Conte has been discussing this with me since our initial phone call. When I hadn't yet decided to agree to Napoli, the coach talked to me about tactics, so I arrived here knowing I need to improve tactically."
After securing the Eredivisie title for the second consecutive year last season, Lang aims to continue his winning streak in Naples.
"A title for me? I would say 'I am here to win, because I have won championships with Bruges, Ajax and PSV, and now I am here to seek new victories.'
