Amorin has requested to buy a new goalkeeper, and Manchester United's loan request for Big Martin was rejected! They may sign a new Courtois for £17 million.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United's next plan involves signing a striker and a goalkeeper. For the goalkeeper position, Ruben Amorin has requested to bring in someone, with his top choice being Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa. However, the Red Devils' loan application was outright rejected by Villa.

Due to a hamstring injury, Andre Onana is currently recovering. Although he may return before the new season starts, Amorin wants a more stable top goalkeeper to strengthen the team's defense. The 32-year-old Big Martin has been linked with a transfer to Manchester United since the end of last season. Ironically, the Argentine goalkeeper was sent off during his last visit to Old Trafford, resulting in Villa's 0-2 defeat and missing out on a Champions League spot.

After his last home game at Villa Park, Big Martin tearfully bid farewell to the fans, and it’s no secret that he wants to transfer. However, he turned down a lucrative offer from the Saudi Arabian Professional League, as reports indicate he is eager to join Manchester United. Yet, a year ago, this goalkeeper renewed his contract with Villa until 2029, rumored to include a £21 million release clause, which actually does not exist.

Villa has set a price of £40 million for the team's vice-captain. The UK's Daily Mail reported that last week Manchester United approached Big Martin and wanted to loan him from Villa, but faced a firm rejection. Villa stated that Big Martin is not Rashford, and a short-term loan would not benefit the team.

Whether Manchester United will continue to pursue Big Martin, whether to introduce him for £40 million or attempt a player swap, may have a conclusion in the coming weeks. Villa has reportedly shown interest in United's Argentine winger Garnacho, whose actual transfer fee might be around £45 million.

Additionally, Romano disclosed that Manchester United is also in contact with 23-year-old goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. United has made initial inquiries about Lammens to understand the potential terms of a deal. The Antwerp goalkeeper is much cheaper than Big Martin, reportedly costing only £13 million to £17 million (€17 million to €20 million).

Lammens is a member of the Belgium U21 national team and joined Antwerp from Brugge in 2023. Manchester United was reported to have scouted Lammens back in January, with scouts watching his matches. This season, he has made 41 appearances, achieving 10 clean sheets, with 173 saves, averaging 4.3 saves per game and a save rate of 78%. Antwerp is expected to receive offers for Lammens, whose contract runs until 2027, but the team has already signed mixed-race goalkeeper Daichi Brandon Nozawa, and sporting director Overmars hinted that Lammens may be sold.

Interestingly, Lammens is also a "goalkeeper with a knife," as he scored a header from a corner kick in the 2019/20 UEFA Youth League match between Brugge and Real Madrid, equalizing 2-2 and sending his team into the playoffs. Turkish club Galatasaray is also interested in Lammens, but the player himself wants to join one of the top five European leagues, just like his idol Courtois.

Lammens has praised the Premier League as the best league in the world: "When I first heard that Manchester United was interested in me, I thought: 'Wow, a world-class team is watching you, that's so special!' Of course, I often get asked about this, even when I make a save in training, my teammates will joke about Manchester United this and that. It's normal; I would do the same. Those top clubs have so many scouts watching many players, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything. You can't pay too much attention to it; you only know the final result in the summer."

Manchester United's invitation might be hard for him to refuse: "It's hard to say; I've only played one season at Antwerp. If something comes up that I can't refuse and is beneficial for the club, I will seriously consider it. But if I stay here as the main goalkeeper for another year, that's fine too."

He is also confident that he fits well with English football: "Of course, this would only bring positive effects. Especially since the Premier League is almost the best competition in the world, and my personality, my physique, and my playing style are very suitable for English football. You have to maintain physical balance, which suits me well. I do pay attention to some teams that are interested in me, but I don't watch full matches; highlights are enough."
