The Chinese women's volleyball team was reversed by Poland, missing out on the semifinals. Looking back, should we have won against the USA?

On July 24, Beijing time, a key match in the World Volleyball League concluded, where the Chinese women's volleyball team faced the strong European team, Poland. Unfortunately, we lost a good opportunity, having initially won a set but ultimately fell 2-3 to Poland, suffering a third consecutive defeat against this opponent. Regrettably, we missed the semifinals and concluded our journey in the World League, shifting our focus to prepare for the World Championship!

The Chinese women's volleyball team has adopted a strategy of breaking the mold this season, heavily utilizing young players. While there are certainly many shortcomings that need to be addressed through competition, these players made their debut in the World League and have gradually shown improvement as the matches progressed. This time, they successfully secured a spot in the finals, but the quarterfinals will be a life-and-death battle against the host team, Poland. The opponent is a newly rising world powerhouse, strong in both offense and defense, presenting a significant challenge. Although everyone hopes for a miracle, the reality is harsh. We encountered many issues on the court, including ineffective serves, erratic setting, lack of experience, and an inflexible libero. Thus, despite leading 2-1, the Chinese women's volleyball team ultimately lost two consecutive sets and was eliminated, finishing the World League with a 2-3 defeat!

To be honest, losing to Poland in this match was somewhat expected for China. After all, our players are quite young and inexperienced, and there are gaps in every position compared to strong teams. However, even though the Chinese women's volleyball team lost the match, this elimination round at least went the full five sets, providing valuable experience that will aid in future competitions!

However, seeing the Chinese women's volleyball team exit the tournament makes us reflect on the last round of the preliminary matches. Many might think that losing to the American team 1-3 would have been better, as that would have led us to face Japan instead of Poland, which would have been much easier. Nevertheless, since we won against the USA, we have no regrets because the Chinese women's volleyball team gives their all in every match. Moving forward, the team can enjoy a substantial break to prepare for the upcoming World Championship. Go for it!
