The captain of Barcelona and German goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, announced on Instagram Thursday that he will be out for three months while he heals from back surgery, according to the 33-year-old.
Ter Stegen was sidelined for seven months due to a knee injury last year, which required surgery before his return in May. He had previously undergone back surgery in 2023, which kept him out for more than two months.
"This time, the doctors estimate that approximately three months will be needed as a precaution to mitigate any risks," stated Ter Stegen, who has been with Barcelona since 2014, securing six LaLiga titles and a Champions League trophy with the team.
"It is emotionally painful not to be able to support the team during this period. Fortunately, the rehabilitation is manageable, and the path to recovery is clear."
