Nigeria's head coach Eric Chelle has revealed a 23-man roster for the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

In a daring decision, Chelle has shown confidence in NPFL championsRemo Stars, with nine players from the league-winning team making the final selection.

Captain Junior Nduka leads the squad, accompanied by Godwin Obaje and Sikiru Alimi, who are both expected to support Super Eagles’ pursuit of success. Additional members include Ozoemena Ani, Stephen Mayo, and Sodiq Ismaila, along with Anas Yusuf.

Following weeks of rigorous training at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ogun State, the team left Nigeria on Thursday night heading to Zanzibar for the next stage of their preparations.

The training camp in Zanzibar, scheduled from July 25 to 31, will provide the squad with essential adjustments before the tournament commences. As part of their final preparations, the Eagles will compete against Zanzibar in two friendly matches on July 28 and 31.

“We are all like brothers, familiar with each other from our various clubs. It’s natural to meet here,” Obaje told Super Eagles Media.

“I’m excited about the tournament. I’m ready, and we must give our best. Nigeria is one of the top countries in Africa. Our preparations are going very well.”

Placed in Group D, Nigeria will face defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in what is expected to be a highly competitive group stage.
