The 25-year-old Paixao was close to signing with Olympique Marseille in the past few weeks, but negotiations between Feyenoord and l'OM broke down due to disagreements over the transfer fee. Marseille is also close to finalizing a deal with Juventus for Timothy Weah, making a transfer for Paixao unnecessary.
As reported by Sky Sports, the newcomers to the Premier League Leeds United have made their initial official offer for the Brazilian fan favorite. This offer is said to surpass the approximately €29 million proposed by Olympique Marseille, which Feyenoord turned down.
Emerging talent
Igor Paixao transferred to Feyenoord from the Brazilian club Coritiba in 2022 and has gradually established himself as their key player. In 129 appearances for the Rotterdam club, Paixao netted 39 goals and provided 23 assists.
He had his most impressive season last year, scoring 18 goals and assisting 14 in 47 matches across all competitions. Paixao gained international attention during the UEFA Champions League last year, earning the Man of the Match award against Sparta Prague in the group stage and after the home match against AC Milan in the knockout phase.
Paixao's contract with Feyenoord runs until the summer of 2030.
