Nigeria's head coach Justine Madugu has reiterated his team's preparedness for the eagerly awaited 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco on Saturday night.

The match at Rabat’s Olympic Stadium promises an exciting encounter of differing aspirations, as the hosts Morocco pursue their first-ever continental title while the Super Falcons strive to claim a record-extending 10th WAFCON championship.

In a media briefing, the 61-year-old emphasized that his players are entirely focused and ready for the upcoming challenge, undaunted by the pressure of facing a formidable Atlas Lionesses team.

"Playing in a cup final always comes with pressure due to the heightened desire. You have worked hard to reach this point, and now you just need that extra push to realize the dream of lifting the trophy," stated Madugu.

"We are preparing thoroughly in all areas—mentally, psychologically, and for whatever we anticipate. We are addressing everything and understand that it won't just be about praying to God.

"We are equipped for every scenario that might arise on the field. Experience has taught us many lessons, and we are fully ready for that."

When asked how the Super Falcons would cope with the intimidating atmosphere created by Moroccan supporters, Madugu confidently noted that his players are accustomed to such environments and are well-prepared for the challenge ahead.

"In competitions, you know that the teams you face will always be tough, and as you advance, it only gets more challenging than the group stages," he added.

"The last match we played was against a very strong team, and we managed to overcome them. We will be competing against another skilled team in the final, and they have quality players.

"I believe we have players of equal caliber—they are professionals who play for some of the top teams worldwide.

"For the fans in the stadium, our players have participated in various competitions and leagues similar to what they will encounter in the final. Thus, it won’t be unfamiliar, and they won't be intimidated.

"In the last semi-final we played against them, we handled it well, and the game went to penalties. This is not something new for us, and we are ready for it."

Coach Madugu also discussed Asisat Oshoala’s role within the squad, following her limited participation in the ongoing tournament. The former Arsenal and Barcelona striker scored Nigeria’s first goal against Tunisia but has since seen her role in the team diminish.

He mentioned: "It’s a team effort and not about any individual. The fact that she hasn't been on the field does not mean she hasn't been performing well.

"She has played a vital role in motivating the players, helping them understand what is at stake. She has been completely supportive of everything we do.

"We are making decisions based on her condition and what we plan to do. She remains relevant and could still have a role to play (on Saturday)."
