B Fee scored twice as Manchester United defeated West Ham 2-1! Mbemo was absent, and Amorim's first Premier League match saw early signs of what’s to come.

Manchester United secured their first victory of the summer friendly matches by beating West Ham United 2-1 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Captain Bruno Fernandes scored in both the first and second halves, while West Ham's captain, Jarrod Bowen, also found the net. The new signing Mbemo, who cost £71 million, did not participate in the match, as Manchester United's pre-match official statement explained that the 25-year-old Cameroonian winger started his training later than his teammates and is still in the integration phase, hence his absence from this game.

Amorim arranged for another new signing, Cunha, to join B Fee and Hojlund in a 3-4-3 formation up front, with Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Ugate, and Patrick Dorgu in midfield, and the defense comprised of young players Eden Hawe and Laine Yoro paired with De Ligt, while the goalkeeper was Baindil.

Right from the start, Manchester United nearly broke the deadlock, as B Fee delivered a through ball to Hojlund, who sprinted forward and struck, but his left-footed shot hit the outside of the post.

With Cunha, B Fee, and the absent Mbemo, the £72 million "freight" will not lack for supply, but whether he can score depends on his own shooting ability.

However, Hojlund's shooting seems to have shown little improvement; in the first half, he had another opportunity at the edge of the box, but he kicked the ball into the stands with his left foot.

United's first goal came from a mistake by West Ham's goalkeeper. Areola collided with a teammate in the box, lost possession, and then unnecessarily brought down United's center-back Hawe, who had his back to the goal. B Fee easily converted the penalty, giving United a 1-0 lead over West Ham.

Amad previously received a pass after Ugate's interception in the attacking third and sent the ball into the net, but he was offside, and the goal was disallowed.

In the latter part of the first half, both teams created threats through corner kicks, with Yoro's header just missing the goal for United, while West Ham's Soucek wasted a good chance in front of goal, his header lacking power and easily caught by Baindil.

At halftime, Amorim commented, "Our defense was solid, and the transition between attack and defense was good, but sometimes we need to hold the ball longer. There are many areas where the team can improve, but I appreciate their effort. I will make substitutions around the 70th minute."

The second half started almost like a repeat of the first, with B Fee wasting a one-on-one chance, and then West Ham's goalkeeper Areola again made a mistake. Areola's goal kick went straight to Mainoo, who passed to B Fee, and the Portuguese "Iron Man" lobbed the ball into the net, extending United's lead to 2-0.

However, United's 3-4-3 midfield had issues, particularly defensively. West Ham broke through the central defense and passed the ball to Bowen, who evaded Hawe and struck powerfully into the net, bringing West Ham to within one goal at 1-2.

Subsequently, both teams made numerous substitutions, with Amorim replacing 10 starting players, leaving only goalkeeper Baindil on the pitch, which reduced the match's excitement. In the final moments, Baindil saved Bowen's long-range shot, securing the 2-1 victory, marking United's first win of their tour in the U.S., with the next match scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 AM against Bournemouth at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Amorim had the starting players on the pitch for 65 minutes, which is earlier than the usual progression in summer friendlies. Most players in this lineup are expected to feature in the Premier League opener at home against Arsenal in three weeks, with British media predicting only two changes in the starting lineup: the returning Andre Onana will take the goalkeeping position, and Mbemo will undoubtedly enter the starting XI.

A clear issue within the team remains the center forward position. Amorim has utilized six players who joined in the past year, presenting a fresh look, but number 9 Hojlund has yet to score. In the Premier League opener, either Cunha or Mbemo may fill in as a center forward, while Amorim stated that he does not wish for B Fee to consistently play in a midfield role in the 3-4-3 formation, as his contributions in attack are more significant.

Predicted starting lineup for Manchester United against Arsenal: Onana / Hawe, De Ligt, Yoro / Amad, Ugate, Mainoo, Dorgu / Mbemo, Cunha, B Fee.
