As reported by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has notified RB Leipzig of their intention to submit a formal offer for forward Šeško. However, the club will only make a formal bid once Šeško has explicitly chosen to transfer to the Red Devils.
The two players Manchester United signed this summer, Cunha and Mbeumo, were both fully committed to joining the team and rejected offers from other clubs without any second thoughts. In contrast, players who are looking to keep multiple options open, such as Liam Delap, Cherki, and Ekitike, ultimately chose other clubs.
Therefore, Manchester United does not want to be used to inflate prices; they will only initiate club-level negotiations if the player is solely interested in joining them. Ruben Amorim's team still faces competition from Newcastle United, who also regard Šeško as a preferred replacement for Isak, with rumors suggesting that the Swedish striker will move to Liverpool.
The "Magpies" are also willing to submit a €75 million transfer offer for Šeško and can easily meet his salary demands. Both Premier League teams are currently waiting for Šeško's decision, which is expected in the coming days regarding which Premier League club he prefers to join this summer.
At 22 years old, Šeško has four years left on his contract and has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for Leipzig, including 21 goals in 45 matches last season, making him an outstanding forward with room for growth and development, attracting interest from Premier League clubs. However, Leipzig will not let him go easily; they will only consider ideal offers.
Previously, Manchester United identified Šeško and Aston Villa's Watkins as their top choices for new strikers, but Villa refused to sell. Just like when Arsenal inquired about a purchase in January, Villa made it clear that they were not considering any offers for Watkins, suggesting that Manchester United look for other targets. Currently, Watkins is participating in preseason training with Villa and has scored goals, with coach Emery hinting that he will stay: "It's great to see him score; yes, it's important for us."
Thus, Šeško has become Manchester United's only option. British media have disclosed that the Red Devils have completely given up on Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, whose £80 million price tag is deemed unreasonable.
British media reports that Chelsea may still be able to acquire Garnacho from Manchester United, but the Red Devils have made it clear that they do not intend to accept a player exchange, whether for Jackson or Nkunku. The club wants to sell Garnacho for a cash amount of £50 million, which would be seen as pure profit.
Jackson himself has hinted that he hopes to stay at Stamford Bridge. When asked if he is worried about his place at Chelsea with the arrivals of João Pedro and Delap, who bring fierce competition, Jackson replied: "Competition? There are no rivals in the team; we are all here to help the club, and everyone has their role. I have a mission, and it all depends on the coach's choice; I just focus on my work."
Regarding his future, Jackson said: "I am a Chelsea player. The future is in God's hands. If there are any changes, you will all know. For now, I am focused on preparing for the new season. That's football; it has its ups and downs. Last season we won two trophies; there were tough times and glorious moments. Every season is like that, but the most important thing is to stay focused, learn and grow in adversity."
