Manchester United has made an €80 million bid for Šeško, with the player demanding proof first! The required price for the transfer has been revealed.

As reported by Kicker, Manchester United has made a proposal to RB Leipzig for 22-year-old Slovenian forward Šeško. It is said that the Red Devils' offer totals €80 million, akin to Newcastle United's earlier bid of €75 million as a fixed fee plus €5 million in potential add-ons, which Leipzig may not accept.

German media state that the offers from both Premier League teams are inadequate for RB Leipzig to part with Šeško. Leipzig may consider selling Dutch winger Xavi Simons to Chelsea; if that deal goes through, the German club may not need to sell Šeško. The latter has a long-term contract, giving Leipzig complete control, and both Manchester United and Newcastle are aware that the club's suggestion of possibly retaining Šeško is not merely a threat.

Although there is a so-called "gentleman's agreement" between Šeško and Leipzig, it requires specific clubs to make offers of a certain amount to activate the agreement. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano explained, "There is a gentleman's agreement between Šeško and Leipzig, where a few select clubs can sign him for between €70 million and €80 million, plus an additional €5 million to €10 million in performance-related clauses. This only applies to a few clubs that Šeško considers special."

Manchester United is included in this special club list, but the €80 million offer does not meet the required amount, which is at least €85 million, and the payment structure is also crucial. The Red Devils could also consider including 22-year-old Danish striker Højlund in the deal to reduce cash expenditure. Romano stated, "I've mentioned the story of Šeško and Højlund a few days ago; Leipzig's dream is to include Højlund in the deal as a sweetener for Šeško. I can confirm that when Manchester United contacted Leipzig, they agreed to include Højlund's transfer in the negotiations."

It is reported that Šeško's agent has flown to Leipzig to discuss his transfer options with the player and negotiate with RB Leipzig. There is still much debate about whether Šeško prefers Manchester United or Newcastle. Previously, rumors in Slovenia suggested he chose Newcastle, but Bundesliga expert and former Premier League player Jan Åge Fjørtoft stated that the player's first choice is Manchester United. "Šeško's first choice is Manchester United, but the club needs to convince him that they can indeed reach a deal with Leipzig."

However, Šeško is demanding that Manchester United prove they have the funds to complete the transfer quickly, rather than dragging it out for a month only to make a last-minute deal. Fjørtoft added, "The Šeško's agent team will not confirm their choice until they are sure that Manchester United has sufficient funds. Because once Šeško chooses a team, it means the other team is completely out of the running. Manchester United's transfer approach carries risks; they first require the player to make a final decision. Leipzig wants to avoid this scenario and hopes to see multiple clubs bidding to drive up the price."

English media outlet Football Insider's Peter O'Rourke added, "Manchester United has identified Šeško as their top target. They are trying to finalize a deal and have already made an offer to the player, but as we know, dealing with Leipzig is not easy. This summer, we saw Arsenal unable to complete the deal for Šeško, but it seems Manchester United is doing everything possible. The key for Manchester United is that the player himself wants to move to Old Trafford, which gives them confidence and makes them proactive against Newcastle."

The Daily Mirror reported that Arsenal ultimately chose Jurrien Timber over Šeško due to three major concerns: Leipzig's high asking price, the high wages demanded by Šeško's team, and whether he has the ability and mental resilience to be a focal point in the Premier League. It is well-known that playing for a top club in the Premier League comes with significant media scrutiny and criticism.

It is reported that Arsenal's withdrawal from the Šeško deal has raised some concerns within Manchester United's transfer department, as the club is acutely aware of the risks involved when a young forward bought for a hefty sum fails to prove their worth, as exemplified by Højlund.

However, Romano confirmed that Manchester United told Leipzig on Saturday that if Šeško decides to join their team, they will make a formal offer. However, the transfer currently seems to lack a clear direction, as rival Newcastle is not only focused on Šeško; they are also exploring other potential candidates, such as Aston Villa's English striker Watkins, who is priced at £60 million, among others. The Red Devils, however, seem to be solely focused on Šeško at this time.
