The new star of Manchester United is reportedly not favored by Amorim! If Baleba is signed, there may be no place for him, risking his chances for the World Cup.

A year ago, Manchester United's youth academy star Kobe Meno was riding high. He had just scored in the FA Cup final and was selected for the England squad for the European Championship, quickly becoming a key player due to his outstanding performance, seemingly making no mistakes. Many even discussed his potential to win the Ballon d'Or in the future.

However, soon after, stories about his demand for a £200,000 weekly salary took over the headlines, contrasting sharply with his declining performance at Manchester United. Now, this 20-year-old English talent finds himself at a crossroads in his career. In Ruben Amorim's squad plans, he is not seen as a main player in the number 10 role, nor in midfield, as the 40-year-old Portuguese coach does not favor him.

If it weren't for the support from many fans, Meno might have faced a summer clearance from Manchester United. Ironically, two of his former teammates who were once considered "untouchable," Garnacho and Hojlund, have now become players who must be sold this summer.

The Manchester United fan group "1958" had planned to protest against owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazer family before the Premier League opener at home against Arsenal on Sunday, but later canceled this plan. However, if the club sells Meno, especially to a Premier League rival, they might be even angrier, which is why Ratcliffe is hesitant to act rashly for now.

The love from many Manchester United fans may be the only source of comfort for Meno. After all, he is a local from Greater Manchester, having supported the Red Devils since childhood and joining the club at the age of six. Fans find it unimaginable for him to leave. But if Meno does not deliver good performances and his agent continues to demand high wages, fan support will inevitably decline, as seen with former star Rashford.

For Meno to secure a spot in Amorim's 3-4-3 formation, mere talent is not enough. Under Ten Hag's management, Meno rose to prominence, becoming the first U20 player since Ronaldo in 2004 to score in an FA Cup final, largely due to his own brilliance.

A few weeks after defeating Manchester City at Wembley to lift the FA Cup, Meno's composure in midfield resolved Gareth Southgate's midfield dilemma, helping the "Three Lions" reach the European Championship final. He is regarded as one of the most outstanding talents in European football and was awarded third place in the Kopa Trophy (Golden Boy award) last year.

This is a remarkable achievement, as the award is given by Tuttosport to the best players under 21 in the world, ultimately won by Barcelona's Yamal. However, just a few months after the European Championship, Meno faced several significant setbacks in his career, including two different muscle injuries caused by fatigue, which kept him out of 17 matches.

Meno primarily relies on his calm talent to play, but Amorim is not enthusiastic about this. The Portuguese coach desires passionate, physically strong, and tireless midfield players. Unlike Southgate, Amorim does not believe Meno can solve the midfield issues facing Manchester United.

If it were up to Amorim, he would likely prefer another Manchester United youth player, McTominay, who was confirmed to have received a Ballon d'Or nomination last week. None of the current midfield players at Manchester United, including 24-year-old Ugarte and 33-year-old Casemiro, satisfy Amorim. The club is preparing to negotiate with Brighton regarding the possibility of signing 21-year-old Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba, who is valued at over £100 million.

This summer, British media reported that Meno has intensified his physical training, appearing as an 8-position player in two preseason matches during the tour in the United States. However, with the arrival of the £200 million new trio of Mbappe, Sesko, and Cunha, captain Bruno Fernandes is expected to drop back and take on one of the double midfield roles in the 3-4-3 formation.

For Meno to get playing time, he can only partner with B. Fernandes, but fans cannot imagine how the "Meno-Fernandes" combination would handle defensive duties. With Manchester United missing out on European competitions, the number of matches is reduced, and it is well known that B. Fernandes is notoriously durable.

To secure a starting position in Amorim's squad, Meno needs to improve his physical fitness and defensive awareness, learn to head the ball and tackle, and be more proactive in defense, becoming a versatile midfielder. Currently, his only advantages are his calm ball control and occasional scoring runs.

If Meno does not make significant progress, he may find himself sitting on the bench for a long time, making it difficult to enter the World Cup squad for the new England coach Tuchel next summer. Meno has remained silent regarding a new contract and salary increase; the club hopes to extend his contract, but if the situation does not change, he may consider a transfer, with London clubs Tottenham and Chelsea potentially extending an olive branch.
