Reports indicate that Manchester United is not actively seeking PSG's discarded player Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper has had a fallout with PSG, and with just one year remaining on his contract, there are rumors he might depart this summer for a reduced fee of £26 million. Following his omission from Luis Enrique's European Super Cup roster, speculation about his future has intensified.
Donnarumma has been linked with a transfer to the Premier League, but the Daily Mail claims Manchester United has denied that he is a target for the summer window. Donnarumma is not a priority for Amorim, and the goalkeeper position is not a focus for the club this summer, as André Onana is unlikely to leave.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Chelsea is also not interested in signing Donnarumma, as Enzo Maresca is satisfied with the current goalkeeper. More importantly, Donnarumma could become a problem within the team due to his strong pursuit of money, which has led to the breakdown of his relationships with both AC Milan and PSG, not by coincidence.
Manchester United has managed to lower the salary amounts for new signings this summer, with the weekly wages of Cunha, Mbeumo, and Šeško not exceeding £200,000. However, if they were to bring in Donnarumma, this principle would be violated, and other players might be tempted to seek pay raises.
Unless Donnarumma is willing to take a pay cut to join Manchester United, considering he is not a "child prodigy" and the Red Devils do not have European competition, this is unlikely to happen. If he were willing to drastically reduce his income, he would have re-signed with PSG long ago.
Donnarumma's agent, Enzo Raiola, denied that they were asking for an exorbitant fee and suggested they are facing a situation similar to when De Gea left Manchester United. He stated, "We are shocked by PSG's treatment; they show zero respect for a player who has been with the club for four years. We will consider the situation with our legal team. Donnarumma is even willing to take a pay cut, but PSG changed the terms."
Romano reported that Manchester City contacted Paris Saint-Germain this week regarding Donnarumma. "Manchester City reached out to PSG to inquire about the situation with Donnarumma. PSG's current asking price is €50 million, which is clearly too high; only if Ederson leaves Manchester City would there be a chance."
Little Raiola also criticized PSG: "We now have to consider solutions; perhaps there are clubs in the Premier League that can meet the required fees. PSG demands a hefty transfer fee; they talk about respect, but it’s really all about the money."
If Manchester United looks to buy a new goalkeeper this summer, they may opt for the young keeper Sander Lamers, the Belgian prospect is also closely linked with a transfer to Old Trafford.
Transfer expert Ben Jacobs stated, "If Manchester United adds a goalkeeper, I believe it will be a young player. Lamers is a name we've heard, but even his transfer depends on whether Baindil stays or goes. If no one leaves, a goalkeeper is not a priority for Manchester United right now."
Reportedly, Manchester United is currently focusing on the transfer of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. Meanwhile, the transfer department is also working on some player departures. Among them, 21-year-old midfielder Toby Collier is negotiating a loan move to Championship side Hull City.
"Hull City" has a good track record of developing young players and hopes to secure Collier on loan for a season. Reports indicate that negotiations are still in the early stages, and Hull City faces competition from Sheffield Wednesday, but it is certain that the midfielder is willing to leave Manchester United before the new season begins.
