Frankfurt might not be the strongest "star factory" in Europe, but it is definitely a remarkable striker workshop. The team works to pad forwards' stats, and many attackers are sold for big fees after just a year, like Muani or André Silva. Still, plenty of fans argue that players from the Eagles are usually disappointing.
Leipzig has officially announced that 29-year-old Portuguese striker A. Silva is departing to join La Liga’s newly promoted Elche. According to renowned journalist Romano, Silva’s transfer from Leipzig to Elche includes a fixed fee of only €1 million, with an additional €1.5 million in potential bonuses. The two sides have agreed on a one-year contract with an option to extend for another year.
A. Silva has become somewhat of a football journeyman, playing for many clubs throughout his career, but it's fair to say AC Milan and Leipzig have been the ones to lose out. In the summer of 2017, A. Silva moved from Porto to AC Milan for €38 million. Three years later, in 2020, Milan sold him to Frankfurt for just €3 million. After a year at Frankfurt, he was sold to Leipzig in the summer of 2021 for €23 million, making Leipzig the latest club to take him on.
Now 29 years old, A. Silva stands 1.86 meters tall and plays as a right-footed center forward. He is valued at €4 million by Transfermarkt. Last season, he made 23 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, starting only 7 times, with a total of 728 minutes played, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
