Nam Định ranks third in Southeast Asia

Thép Xanh Nam Định FC holds the third spot in a category for football teams in the South Asian area.

Recently, the statistics portal Transfermarkt has updated its list of the top 10 most valuable clubs in Southeast Asia.

Accordingly, Buriram United continues to assert its dominance by topping the list of Southeast Asia’s most valuable clubs for the 2025/26 season, with a total squad value of 15.25 million euros. The Thai club is valued over 1 million euros higher than Johor Darul Ta’zim (14.10 million euros), the representative from Malaysia.

Meanwhile, thanks to significant investments this summer, Thép Xanh Nam Định is ranked third with a total value of 9.21 million euros.

This is not surprising, as the reigning V-League champions have recruited several high-priced foreign players such as Kyle Hudlin (205,000 euros), Mahmoud Eid (600,000 euros), Caique (800,000 euros), Njabulo Blom (950,000 euros), and most recently Percy Tau (1 million euros).

This partly reflects Nam Định’s ambition to go beyond domestic competitions, as the club is also preparing for international tournaments, specifically the AFC Champions League Two this season.

Previously, Transfermarkt also ranked Nam Định ninth among the most valuable teams in the AFC Champions League Two for the 2025/26 season. The leading club is Al Nassr, home to superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, with a total value reaching 174 million euros—almost four times more than the next club, Al Wasl (48 million euros).

In the list of Southeast Asia’s most valuable clubs, Vietnam is also represented by two other teams: CAHN (6.8 million euros) in sixth place and Hanoi FC (5.65 million euros) in ninth.

For the 2025/26 Southeast Asian Club Championship, Thép Xanh Nam Định and CAHN are the two Vietnamese teams set to compete against the region’s top clubs.

Last season, CAHN impressively reached the final and had two intense encounters with Buriram United. However, the Thai team proved more resilient and secured the overall victory after both legs.
