Even though the team didn't win the title, coach Uki Tetsuro of Myanmar's women's squad still showed great pride in his athletes.
Despite missing out on a third Southeast Asian Championship trophy, the Myanmar women's national team experienced an emotional journey. They remained unbeaten in four matches before suffering their only loss to Australia in the final.
Speaking after the match, coach Uki Tetsuro shared his satisfaction: "Our players have given their all over the past few days. I believe the whole team played to their best abilities, so let's walk tall and smile brightly. Let's sing together."
"I am confident that we can compete with strong teams. First of all, I want to say we've played many matches and gained belief from this tournament. However, we've also started preparing for the next competition. We need to be better prepared for that one. We couldn't arrange many friendly matches, so participating in this tournament and facing strong teams was truly valuable."
During this tournament, we faced many challenges. To a certain extent, I think our preparation and performance were the best they could be.", the Japanese strategist added.
In their opening match, Myanmar secured a 2-1 victory against Australia. However, it's undeniable that the girls from the Land Down Under showed remarkable improvement before the final rematch. The Japanese coach commented on this:
"I think every game is different. We gave our best and won in the group stage. Unfortunately, we couldn't win in the final. But the team improved with each match. In the last game, we didn't get the result we wanted. We'll keep working hard, reflect, accept the outcome, and prepare better next time."
We must prepare even more. We need to face reality, accept the situation, and improve. This is essential for our future."
