Real Madrid kicked off the 2025/26 La Liga season with a narrow win over Osasuna, thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s contribution.
Earlier today, Real Madrid welcomed Osasuna at home for the first round of La Liga. Manager Alonso started three newcomers: left-back Álvaro Carreras, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, and center-back Dean Huijsen.
The first half was closely fought, with the visitors dropping deep into a five-man defense, making it hard for Real Madrid to find openings. The hosts were forced to try their luck from distance, but shots from Dean Huijsen and Eder Militao were blocked. Mbappe and Vinicius Junior also attempted skillful strikes, but they were off target.
After halftime, the home team broke the deadlock when Mbappe was brought down roughly by Juan Cruz inside the box.
