On August 19, 2025, the highly anticipated Laver Cup announced its finalized player list. The Argentine playerFrancisco Cerúndoloreturns to Team World, with Czech prodigyJakub Mensikand Italian playerFlavio Cobollijoining Team Europe. With both teams now assembled, they will clash at the Chase Center in San Francisco from September 19 to 21.
Marking its debut on the U.S. West Coast, this year’s Laver Cup will take place at the Chase Center—home of the seven-time NBA champion Golden State Warriors. For the first time, this venue will transform into a world-class tennis arena, setting the stage for an epic transatlantic showdown.
Team World will be captained byAndre Agassiand features several American standouts: world No. 4 Taylor Fritz, No. 6 Ben Shelton, No. 14 Tommy Paul, and No. 17 Frances Tiafoe, along with Brazil’s rising talent Joao Fonseca (No. 44) and Argentina’s veteran Cerúndolo (No. 19). Cerúndolo is making his third appearance, boasting an undefeated 2-0 record and multiple deep runs at ATP 1000 Masters events this season, making him a reliable asset for the squad.
Team Europe, led by new captainYannick Noah, boasts world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, No. 3 Alexander Zverev, No. 11 Holger Rune, and No. 12 Casper Ruud, joined by 19-year-old Czech sensation Mensik (No. 16) and Italy’s Cobolli (No. 26). Mensik has been on fire this season, defeating Djokovic to win the Miami Masters and topping the ATP Jeddah Finals points race. Cobolli, promoted from last year’s alternate to a full team member, has proven himself with a Wimbledon quarterfinal and two ATP titles this season.
Rune and Fonseca were among the first players confirmed for their respective teams.

Historically, Team Europe leads the Laver Cup series 5-2, narrowly edging out Team World in last year’s Berlin event. With this year’s tournament in San Francisco, the passionate Bay Area fans may become Team World’s “seventh player.” Cerúndolo commented, “It’s an honor to represent Team World in red on home soil. With the crowd behind us, we’re confident we can beat Team Europe.”
Newly appointed Team Europe captain Noah isn’t taking anything for granted: “Defending the title is never easy. Team World is strong, but our squad has both talent and hunger—we’re ready.”
The Laver Cup features a unique scoring system: each win on Friday is worth 1 point, Saturday wins are worth 2, and Sunday wins are worth 3. The first team to reach 13 points claims the trophy. Each of the six players must play one singles match in the first two days (maximum two singles matches per player), and at least four players per team must compete in doubles, ensuring constant excitement throughout the event.
This competition, originally conceived and championed by Federer, has now run successfully for seven years. Federer even chose to hold his retirement ceremony here in 2022, rather than at Wimbledon as many expected, highlighting how much this tournament means to him.
From the start, Federer envisioned the event as “fun.” He wanted to create a space where players could unwind and enjoy themselves after a long season—somewhere they could relax, connect, and have a good time together.
Sinner’s fans might be a bit disappointed with this year’s lineup. It’s like everyone played tennis together all morning, then went out for drinks and karaoke—but forgot to invite you…
This transatlantic tennis spectacle, uniting rising stars and established talents, is about to ignite in San Francisco.
