Djokovic played during the day session, facing a strong challenge from local qualifier Shvayda. He lost the first set 5-7 in a tiebreak, marking his first set loss in this tournament. However, Djokovic quickly regained his form, winning the next three sets 6-3, 6-3, and 6-1 to complete the comeback. This marks Djokovic’s 19th US Open participation where he has reached at least the round of 32, and with his 75th appearance in the round of 32 at Grand Slams, he surpasses Federer’s 74 to hold the all-time record alone.
