Carlos Alcaraz keeps reinforcing his status as the most promising tennis talent globally through his remarkable display at the US Open.
The 22-year-old Spanish player defeated Arthur Rinderknech 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-4 to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
This result makes Carlos Alcaraz the youngest male player in the Open Era to reach 13 Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances.
The match against Rinderknech was challenging as the French player maximized his powerful serves to create difficulties. After a tense first set, Alcaraz adjusted his strategy by retreating deeper on returns, which allowed him to better control the game and consistently deliver precise attacking shots.
Winning in straight sets propelled Alcaraz into the quarterfinals without dropping a set this year. This marks the fourth time in five US Open appearances that he has reached this stage, highlighting the impressive consistency of the 2022 champion.

Despite Rinderknech’s resilient fight, a crucial double fault in the first set tiebreak and failure to capitalize on two break points in the third set prevented any upset.
Alcaraz now boasts 58 wins and 6 titles in 2025, approaching the best career record of 65 wins set in 2023. If he maintains this form and matches or surpasses current champion Jannik Sinner’s results, he could reclaim the world number one ranking after nearly a year.
