Tennis enthusiasts around the globe are set to see two top-level clashes in the men's and women's singles finals of the 2025 US Open.
The final Grand Slam of the year—the 2025 US Open—is approaching its conclusion. After exciting and intense matches, the four players advancing to the men's and women's singles finals have been officially revealed.
In the men's singles, tennis fans globally will once again witness an epic duel between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. In the semifinals, Alcaraz needed only three sets to end Novak Djokovic's quest for his 25th Grand Slam, while Sinner had a tougher battle—defeating the 25th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in four sets. The Italian player showed remarkable resilience by repeatedly saving break points against his opponent’s surge and making the most of his chances to continue defending his title at Flushing Meadows.
Thus, within just four months, Sinner and Alcaraz have faced each other five times in finals: Rome Masters, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, Cincinnati Open, and now the US Open. Carlitos holds a slight edge with three wins and a single loss at Wimbledon.
The upcoming final carries even greater significance, as the winner will leave New York holding the world No. 1 ranking. Sinner currently leads the ATP Tour rankings but will lose the top spot if he falls to Alcaraz in their next encounter.
Meanwhile, in the women's singles, the final will feature a face-off between Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova —a rematch of this year’s Wimbledon semifinal, where Anisimova triumphed in three sets before suffering her most memorable Grand Slam defeat to Iga Swiatek.
To reach her second consecutive Major final, Anisimova successfully avenged her loss to Swiatek in the quarterfinals and overcame former champion Naomi Osaka in the semifinals, while Sabalenka staged a comeback against Jessica Pegula in a repeat of last year’s US Open final.
Sabalenka has experienced a disappointing streak against American players in this year’s Grand Slams. The world No. 1 lost to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final, Coco Gauff in the Roland Garros final, and Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon semifinal, only to meet the Russian-American opponent again in the US Open final.
If she loses again, Sabalenka will match Venus Williams in 2002 and Kim Clijsters in 2003 for reaching at least the semifinals in all four Grand Slams in a year but ending without a title. Conversely, a victory would earn Anisimova her first Grand Slam championship.
The 2025 US Open women's singles final between Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova is scheduled to start at 3 AM on September 7, with the men's singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner taking place the following day.
