The 2025 US Open concludes: A symphony of tennis and city life on a summer night in New York

In September, New York still carries the warmth of summer in the air. Amid the bustling crowd at Flushing Meadows Park, the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium shine one last time on this tennis sanctuary as the 2025 US Open officially closes amid cheers and applause.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Novak Djokovic

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Novak Djokovic achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the semifinals in all four Grand Slams this season. At 38 years old, he demonstrated incredible consistency and competitiveness. Seeded seventh in the men’s singles, the Serbian star once again delivered unforgettable moments for New York fans. In the quarterfinals, he dominated the home-favorite Fritz in four sets, but fell short against the powerful young talent Alcaraz in the semifinals. Nevertheless, Djokovic expressed his determination not to give up on chasing Grand Slam titles, despite the challenging journey ahead.

“I am still captivated by the thrill of competition and deeply grateful for the tremendous support from the crowd on court. This is what drives me to keep fighting,” he said. “Over the past few years, the love from fans worldwide has been overwhelming. I will never quit easily on the Grand Slam stage. I will keep battling, aiming to win another title.” After the US Open, Djokovic rose three places in the world rankings to No. 4.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Taylor Fritz

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Taylor Fritz reached the quarterfinals at this year's US Open, marking the best result among the American men’s team. As the top American player and home favorite, Fritz's journey drew much attention and pressure. He played steadily, winning his first four rounds before losing to Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Although he couldn’t replicate last year’s finals run, Fritz still delivered a convincing performance on home soil.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Lorenzo Musetti

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Lorenzo Musetti competed as the 10th seed in men’s singles, showcasing his best form since the clay season at Flushing Meadows. After an unexpected injury at the French Open, Musetti has been actively working on his game. Despite only one win at Wimbledon and the North American hard court season, he revived his form here by defeating French powerhouse Pericard in four sets in the first round, then winning the next three matches in straight sets. He reached the quarterfinals but lost to compatriot Sinner, marking his best US Open performance. In an interview, the Italian admitted, “Honestly, the past month was tough. I felt frustrated with my technique, form, and results. The key to turning things around was mental resilience, which I have focused on in recent weeks, so I’m proud of myself.”

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Dominic Thiem

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Dominic Thiem delivered a solid performance, reaching the US Open men’s singles quarterfinals for the second consecutive year. Seeded eighth, he dropped only one set on his way to the quarters. Undoubtedly one of the toughest competitors on the men’s tour, the Australian showed great resilience. Although he couldn’t bring his best form against Aliassime in the quarterfinals, he fought until the very end, extending the match to nearly five hours over four sets. Currently ranked seventh in the race to the year-end championship, Thiem aims to qualify for the ATP Finals for the second year running.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Jasmine Paolini

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Jasmine Paolini entered the US Open seeded seventh in women’s singles. After strong wins in the first two rounds, she was surprisingly defeated by Czech star Vondrousova in the third round, exiting in the round of 32. However, paired with fellow Italian Errani, they formed a formidable duo as the second seed in women’s doubles, advancing to the semifinals. Paolini achieved her best doubles result at the US Open, reaching the Grand Slam women’s doubles semifinals again after winning the French Open this year.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Beatriz Haddad Maia

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Beatriz Haddad Maia was seeded 18th in women’s singles at this US Open. She defeated players from Qatar, Grubusic, and Sakkari to reach the round of 16, marking her best Grand Slam result this year. In the fourth round against local favorite and tournament runner-up Anisimova, Maia displayed strong competitive spirit. Riding the momentum of this US Open resurgence, the Brazilian star aims to achieve more success in the second half of the season.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Zhang Shuai

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Zhang Shuai delivered a commendable performance at this US Open. The 36-year-old Chinese player qualified for the main singles draw for the 49th time in her career by winning three qualifying matches. Although she lost in straight sets to Swiss star Bencic in the first round of singles, she teamed up with Aleksandrova in doubles to form a strong pair seeded 12th, reaching the round of 16. Reviewing her Grand Slam results this season, Zhang reached the singles round of 64 and doubles quarterfinals at the Australian Open, qualified for singles main draws at Wimbledon and the US Open, and reached the doubles round of 16. Looking ahead to the upcoming China season, fans eagerly anticipate what surprises Zhang will bring on home soil.

Over the past two weeks, we have witnessed a series of peak battles unfold here, listening to the heartbeat of this city pulsing for tennis. The energy left by the US Open will continue to flow through New York’s streets until next summer, when this grand celebration of tennis and city life returns.
