ATP Hangzhou: Wu Yibing Battles Back to Defeat Mannarino, Secures Opening Victory

On September 17, 2025, the ATP250 Hangzhou men's singles main event began. Wu Yibing, competing in his hometown of Hangzhou, took on the 6th seed Mannarino and after a grueling three-set battle, emerged victorious 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-5.

The match was full of twists and turns. After breaking serve early, Wu Yibing was overtaken by his opponent who claimed the first set 6-4. In the second set, despite leading 4-1, Wu was dragged into a tiebreak, where he held firm to win 7-6(5) and even the match. In the deciding set, Wu broke serve once more to take control, and after missing his first chance to serve out the match, he quickly regained momentum, breaking again and holding serve to complete the comeback with a 7-5 win.

In a post-match interview, Wu Yibing became emotional: "First, I want to thank everyone who braved the wind and rain to come support me today. This is my first win in three years at the 'Little Lotus' tournament. Both players performed well, and I’m very happy to be back home. I’ve gone through many injuries, and now standing on my hometown court with my family, friends, coach, and fans supporting me means a lot. As a player, I can’t ask for much more. This is enough for me, but I also hope to win a few more matches and continue writing this beautiful story."
