This is also the first time Novak Djokovic has been defeated by Taylor Fritz in his career.
Novak Djokovic finished in 4th place overall at the Six Kings Slam 2025 after withdrawing from the bronze medal match against Taylor Fritz early morning on October 19th, Vietnam time.
Despite recent ongoing physical issues, Novak Djokovic was still considered the favorite over Taylor Fritz, especially given his undefeated 11-0 record against the American player throughout his career.
The Serbian legend started the match quite well: serving effectively and hitting shots to both corners that forced Fritz to move extensively. Things began to get tougher for Nole from the 7th game, when his stamina showed signs of decline. He faced 3 break points but fortunately managed to hold his serve.
By the 10th service game, Djokovic had a great chance to close out the set as Fritz appeared rushed in his play. The 38-year-old had 4 set-point opportunities and several deuce points, creating a prolonged game but failed to convert any of those chances.
In the following game, the Serbian had to save 6 break points while limping and gasping for breath, then celebrated enthusiastically after holding serve. Both players then proceeded to a tiebreak; there, Fritz was fresher and more precise, winning 7-4.
Djokovic could not continue the match, Fritz won 1-0, securing 3rd place in the Six Kings Slam debut.
This was also the first time Nole lost to Fritz in his career; however, this defeat does not count towards their official head-to-head record since the Six Kings Slam is not governed by the ATP or ITF.
