News | The 2026 Australian Open Prize Money Hits a New Record, Totaling Over AUD 111 Million

The Australian Open organizers recently announced another increase in the prize money baseline for this edition, with the total prize pool exceeding AUD 111.5 million, a 16% rise compared to 2025.


This initiative is designed to further foster tennis growth—ensuring that both elite players and newcomers receive enhanced backing and protection.


“Since 2023, we have raised the qualifying rounds’ prize money by 55%. By increasing player earnings, we are working to make every athlete’s career ‘sustainable’ from all angles,” said Craig Tiley, the tournament director of the Australian Open. “This investment will strengthen the foundation of tennis, ensuring the long-term smooth operation and commercial growth of the sport.”



Prize distribution for singles rounds:

Champion: AUD 4.15 million (+19%)

Runner-up: AUD 2.15 million (+13%)

Semifinalists: AUD 1.25 million (+14%)

Quarterfinalists: AUD 750,000 (+13%)

Fourth round: AUD 480,000 (+14%)

Third round: AUD 327,750 (+13%)

Second round: AUD 225,000 (+13%)

First round: AUD 150,000 (+14%)

Qualifying rounds

Q3: AUD 83,500 (+16%)

Q2: AUD 57,000 (+16%)

Q1: AUD 40,500 (+16%)
