'The tennis world's "Serve Machine" retires at the age of 35.

Throughout his career, this player with a lightning-fast serve climbed to world No. 3, reached the Wimbledon 2026 final, and once set a record for the highest number of aces in a Bo3 match.

Former world No. 3 Milos Raonic officially announced his retirement through an emotional post on social media. In his farewell message, the Canadian player expressed deep gratitude to his family, coaches, colleagues, and opponents who accompanied him throughout his elite career.

"What must happen has come; I am retiring. This is a moment everyone knows will arrive, yet you are never truly ready for it.", Raonic wrote. "Tennis has been both my passion and obsession for most of my life."

Raonic has not competed since mid-2024. His last appearance on the ATP Tour was at the Queen's Club Championships, where he set a record with 47 aces in a first-round victory over Cameron Norrie. In the second round, the Canadian was defeated in straight sets by Taylor Fritz.

Milos Raonic was the runner-up at Wimbledon 2016.

He returned six weeks later to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics but was eliminated in the first round by Dominic Koepfer after three tie-break sets — a match regarded as the closing chapter of his professional career.

Persistent injuries, especially to his shoulder, forced Raonic to miss the remainder of the 2024 season. Although he hinted at a possible comeback during the 2025 grass season, his recovery did not meet expectations, and the 35-year-old continued to miss tournaments without specific announcements.

Victory over Roger Federer in the 2016 Wimbledon semifinals — one of Milos Raonic's most memorable career moments.

In his career, Milos Raonic was considered one of the best servers of the Open Era, sharing the stage with John Isner, Ivo Karlovic and Kevin Anderson. He reached the 2016 Wimbledon final — defeating Roger Federer in the semifinals but fell short of the title after losing to Andy Murray. Additionally, Raonic reached at least the quarterfinals in 10 Grand Slams, boasting an impressive 92-37 win-loss record in major tournaments and achieving a career-high ranking of world No. 3.

The Canadian "Serve Machine" won a total of 8 ATP titles in 23 finals, reached 4 ATP 1000 finals but was stopped each time by Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic. He ended his career with a 9-36 record against the "Big 4," with Djokovic being the only opponent he never defeated.
