Melbourne, famous for its cultural diversity and dynamic spirit, is stirring with the late summer heat, as the city’s heartbeat subtly gathers around the site dubbed the "Asia-Pacific Grand Slam" by the tennis world. For many Chinese supporters, this azure court carries unique feelings. As the first Grand Slam of the year, the 2026 Australian Open will witness elite players worldwide, honed through winter training, starting their season’s campaign.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Musetti
ASICS tennis ambassador Musetti reached a major career milestone at the first event of the new year—breaking into the world’s top five in the ATP rankings for the first time, becoming only the third Italian ever to reach the ATP top 5 (after Panatta and Sinner). Musetti advanced to the final of last week’s ATP250 Hong Kong tournament, showing strong form in the opening week of the new season. The 23-year-old Italian left-hander had a breakthrough year last season, reaching his first Masters final in Monte Carlo and making his debut Grand Slam semifinal at Roland Garros. Now, he is poised to push further in 2026, with hopes to improve his career-best ranking at the upcoming Australian Open.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Fritz
American star Fritz is another top-ten player within the ASICS tennis team. Starting the season strong, he led the U.S. team to the semifinals at the United Cup, building solid momentum ahead of the year’s first Grand Slam. In his ten previous Australian Open appearances, Fritz’s best result was reaching the quarterfinals at Melbourne Park, indicating room for improvement on hard courts. Notably, he reached his first Grand Slam final at the 2024 US Open. With his current form and hard-court prowess, Fritz is fully capable of advancing further at this year’s Australian Open and aiming for new career heights.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Paolini
Since breaking into the world’s top ten in 2024, ASICS tennis ambassador Paolini has maintained her elite status for over a year. She will once again appear at this Australian Open as a top-eight seed. The Italian star is known for her exceptional competitiveness on natural surfaces, having reached Grand Slam finals at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, and making history last year by winning both singles and doubles titles at the WTA1000 Rome tournament. Her hard-court game has also steadily improved, evidenced by her run to the final at the WTA1000 Cincinnati event last year. With consistent form and comprehensive skills, Paolini is undoubtedly a formidable contender on the Grand Slam stage.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Bencic
ASICS tennis ambassador Bencic shone brightly at last week’s United Cup, delivering a dominant 9-1 record (undefeated in five singles matches, 4-1 in mixed doubles) to earn MVP honors and nearly single-handedly lead Switzerland to its first-ever final. She demonstrated remarkable resilience as a "mom player," notably staging a three-set comeback against world No. 2 Swiatek in the final. Although Switzerland ultimately finished runner-up to Poland, Bencic’s world ranking continues to climb this week, marking her first return to the top ten since her comeback at the end of 2024. Riding this hot streak, Bencic is unquestionably one of the most exciting competitors to watch at the Australian Open.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Maya
ASICS tennis ambassador Maya ended her season early last September due to health reasons. This week, she made her comeback debut at the WTA250 Adelaide event. Although she did not secure a win, completing the tournament healthy on familiar courts signals positive recovery progress. Over the past two years, Maya has consistently reached the third round (round of 32) at the Australian Open. This year, she returns to Melbourne Park with gradually improving form, determined to continue her steady comeback journey.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Zhang Shuai
ASICS tennis ambassador Zhang Shuai has shown excellent form at the start of the year, advancing through qualifying at the WTA500 Brisbane tournament in the first week of the new season and defeating American player Krueger in the main draw before falling to the strong world No. 5, Leylah Fernandez, in the second round. It was a fruitful week, with Zhang’s ranking rising further this week to No. 73. As a role model for the Chinese team, Zhang returns to Melbourne Park—the stage where she achieved her personal best Grand Slam results. She will enter the Australian Open main draws in both singles and doubles, partnering with Belgian star Mertens in doubles.

ASICS Tennis Ambassador Bouzas
The ASICS team welcomes the powerful addition of French No. 1 Bouzas for the new season. At just 22 years old, she stunned the tennis world last year at Roland Garros by defeating two top-10 players, Pegula and Andreescu, as a wildcard, reaching the Grand Slam semifinals and quickly becoming one of the most promising young stars. As an ASICS tennis ambassador, she will continue competing in 2026. Although she had to withdraw from this Australian Open due to health reasons, we eagerly anticipate her healthy return to the tour to create more memorable moments.

During the Australian Open, ASICS will launch the newly upgraded SOLUTION SPEED FF 4 tennis shoes, designed specifically for players seeking speed and agility. This model achieves a better balance between lightweight construction, quickness, and responsiveness. Equipped with ASICS' proprietary ASICSGRIP technology, the shoe provides reliable traction during rapid movements. The SOLUTION SPEED FF 4 has been the trusted gear of ASICS tennis ambassador Bencic for many years and comes in two distinctive colorways: a black-purple combination that conveys power with subtlety, and a pink-green version that is bright and energetic. With its balanced performance and unique design, the SOLUTION SPEED FF 4 is poised to become the preferred choice for many players in the new season.
The 2026 Australian Open will officially commence on January 18, marking the first time the tournament extends to a 15-day schedule, concluding on February 1. Over these two weeks, under Melbourne’s starry skies, new legends will be born, and the flame leading through the entire tennis season will be ignited, composing an epic saga for the tennis world throughout the year.
