Summary of the first two days at the Australian Open: Mixed fortunes for Chinese players, and Wawrinka lives up to his wildcard!

On the second day of the Australian Open, Chinese players experienced both highs and lows.

During the opening day, Bai Zhuoxuan overturned the match against Pavlyuchenkova, winning an important contest.

Former number one Zhang Zhizhen had an unfortunate draw against Argentine seed Cerundolo and was defeated in three straight sets without much suspense.

In today's matches, the first to take the court was Shang Juncheng, China's second player to win a men's singles tour title. Notably, the Australian Open was also where Shang first made his mark among the Grand Slams, though he hadn't won here for several years. This time, by maintaining his ranking to qualify for the main draw, he defeated former world top ten and Wimbledon semifinalist Agut in the first round, advancing to the second round again.

Another player, Bu Yunchaokete, struggled with injuries and did not perform well against seeded player Shapovalov, ultimately losing the match.

In the following match, Chinese player Yuan Yue faced second seed Swiatek and, despite fiercely pushing the first set to a tiebreak, lost in straight sets.

Among the seeded players, there were not too many upsets. Kobori, who reached his career-high ranking last year and made the Wimbledon quarterfinals, was eliminated in the first round; Canadian dark horse withdrew due to injury after trailing in the score.

Other seeded players include Rublev, who defeated Arnaldi and remains in contention to reach the Grand Slam quarterfinals. If he wants to make a breakthrough, beating potential quarterfinal opponent Zverev would be an ideal scenario.

Alcaraz faced local player Walton without much challenge; although he was broken once, he maintained overall control throughout the match.

The biggest surprise came from former champion Wawrinka. Facing Serbian star Djere, Wawrinka lost the first set but came back to win. During the match, Wawrinka was broken early in the fourth set and looked set for a fifth, but he refused to let it go to a decider, breaking back to close out the match in four sets. Fans of Wawrinka can enjoy watching him at least one more match! This also validates the wildcard given to Wawrinka by the Australian Open organizers!

However, there was also disappointing news. Serena Williams, despite leading in the final set, was ultimately overturned and exited in the first round; former champion Kenin also bowed out early.

Tomorrow, men's singles champion Sinner will take the court, with the first round concluding on the final day. Let's keep following the action!Source: Tennis Home, Author: Luo Cheng Qiye)
