The two male players of the Rome Masters had a heated argument, and the referee had to go down to the pitch to fight

This week, Fez beat Tsitsipas for the fourth time in a row. However, in the third round of the Rome Masters last Sunday, a heated argument broke out between the two, and even the referee had to intervene to mediate.

Tsitsipas won the first set 6-2 after nearly two hours, but the 20-year-old Fez won two sets in a row with excellent net-front skills and a sharp backhand to complete the comeback 6-4 and 6-2 to advance to the fourth round.

Throughout the match, the Frenchman was very emotional. After the match, there was a lengthy exchange between the two players as they shook hands at the net, which looked like an argument, and eventually the referee had to step in to separate the two.

However, Fez clarified in his post-match interview that this is not a serious matter. In the interview, Fez explained about his conversation with Tsitsipas in front of the net: "I like him. He's a great guy and a great champion. A little nervous midway through the second set, his ball came in the direction of my body. But it's part of the game and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just trying to find a way to fight.

"I used this as an 'excuse' to get myself into battle. Later he said he didn't mean to hit me in the body, I told him 'I know' and it doesn't matter, it's all right. I just need a motivation to fight. ”

Tsitsipas hit Fez with a backhand in the match, which at one point thought it was intentional. But the Greek star immediately apologized afterwards and clarified that he didn't mean to.

The pair recently met in the quarter-finals at Barcelona, when Tsitsipas retired in the first set after two games due to a lower back injury, while Fez lost to top seed Alcaraz in two sets in the semi-finals.

The No. 13 seed is likely to face Zverev in the fourth round on May 13, with world No. 2 Zverev battling qualifier Gaubas for a fourth-round spot.

In another second-round match at the Rome Masters, Denmark's Rune expressed strong displeasure with the referee. The reason was that the move of the opponent Francisco Comesana to request a change of jersey during the match caused the displeasure of Rune, and the referee approved the request.

At the beginning of the match, Rune was slow to get into the groove and lost the first set 3-6. However, the world No. 10 quickly adjusted his form and won the second set 6-3 to take the match to the deciding set. The controversy came in the deciding set, when Comesana was leading 3-2 and immediately after the side-changing break went to the referee to request a change of shirt, an act that interrupted Rune's serve.

Rune expressed strong displeasure with this, as the change of sides was the right time to change clothes. The referee explained that Komesana's shirt was "wet enough" and therefore approved his request. Subsequently, Komesana also took the initiative to go to the net to explain the matter to Rune, and Rune returned to the baseline to continue the game.

Despite the controversy, Rune withstood the pressure and came back from behind to beat Komesana 3-6 6-3 6-4 to advance to the third round. At the 2023 Rome Masters, he reached the final but lost to Medvedev and missed out on the title. Last year, he lost to Báez in the third round.

And in yesterday's third round, Rune broke out a small upset and lost to French player Moutai. This is the third meeting between Rune and Moutai, with both sides winning one of their first two times. In the most recent meeting of the year, Rune won comfortably 6-2 6-4 at the Indian Wells Masters.(Source: Tennis Home Author: Spark)
