Newsmaker: Djokovic and Murray end their collaboration!

Djokovic and Murray ended their coaching partnership by mutual agreement ahead of the 2025 French Open.

Last November, when Djokovic announced that he had hired Murray as his new coach, the tennis world was in shock. And now the sudden announcement of the end of the cooperation seems very abrupt.

Is it a newsmaker?!

The two former rivals teamed up for the first time in the offseason, and this year they've competed together in four events, with mixed results.

In Murray's first tournament as coach, Djokovic reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open after beating Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, but later withdrew from the match against Zverev due to a hamstring injury.

Djokovic also reached the final at the Miami Open, winning five games before losing to Jakubu Mensik.

The 37-year-old Djokovic lost in the first round of two other tournaments, the Indian Wells Masters and the Madrid Masters.

After losing to Matteo Arnaldi in Madrid, Djokovic went on a three-match losing streak before withdrawing from the Italian Open.

Djokovic and Murray were expected to continue working together at the French Open and Wimbledon, but both confirmed on Tuesday that they had parted ways.

Djokovic posted on social media: "Thank you, Coach Andy, for all the hard work, joy and support you have put in over the past six months, both on and off the pitch. I really enjoyed the fact that we deepened our friendship together. ”

Murray said:

"Thank you Novak for giving me this incredible opportunity to work together, and for all the hard work his team has put in over the past six months.

"I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season."

Djokovic and Murray did not disclose the reason for the end of their relationship, a milestone that came as a surprise to some fans.

In February, Murray shared his experience coaching Djokovic at the Australian Open on the Sports Accidents podcast.

Murray explained: "I don't say too much 'here's where you're not doing it right,' it's more 'here's what you're doing right.'" [I'm saying] 'When I play against you, you do it, because of those reasons, it's really hard to play against you'.

"I'm trying to highlight more of the positive aspects of when he's playing well, like what he looks like when he's playing well and how it's feeling for the guy on the other end.

After withdrawing from the Rome Open, Djokovic accepted a wild card for the ATP 250 Geneva Open and will play in the week before the French Open.

It's unclear whether Djokovic will add a new coach to his squad ahead of Roland Garros, who kicks off on May 25. Guess: Will Big Brother Del Potro come to the rescue?
