Tsitsipas hired former coach Ivanisevic, who shared his views

Tsitsipas has raised eyebrows about his recent changes in the coaching staff, and his decision has been commented on by Novak Djokovic.

Tsitsipas confirmed last week that he would start working with 2001 Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic at the start of the grass-court season. In his statement, Tsitsipas said expectantly:

"The opportunity to work with Golan is exciting for me. He has risen to the top of tennis as both a player and a coach. I am confident that his experience will help me grow further and I am looking forward to it. ”

The partnership stems from Tsitsipas' recent ongoing slump. At the French Open, he suffered a second-round upset to world No. 167 Matteo Gigante. Subsequently, Sissy also parted ways with this year's co-coaches Carlyle Abbakar and Dimitris Tsazinikolao.

Tsitsipas expressed his gratitude on his Instagram story: "I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Carlyle and Dimitris for their dedication, support and dedication over the past few months. Working with them has been a rewarding chapter in my career and I am deeply grateful for their dedication and commitment to the team. ”

Goran Ivanisevic has an illustrious coaching resume. A former world No.2, he teamed up with Novak Djokovic from June 2019 to March 2024 to help him win nine Grand Slam titles. In addition, he coached compatriot Marin Cilic to the 2014 US Open (Cilic's only Grand Slam) and briefly coached former Wimbledon champion Yelena Rybakina earlier this season.

When asked about Tsitsipas' collaboration with Ivanisevic, Djokovic offered his own analysis.

In an interview with the media at the French Open, he confessed:

I'm sure he can help any player, especially the mental side of Tsitsipas. I can see that Tsitsipas is more volatile in that regard right now, and it's obvious that he's having doubts about his tennis skills. I trust the Golan to give him some guidance and focus on what is right. When we talk about Goran Ivanisevic, the serve is the biggest advantage. Tsitsipas serves well, but there is always room for improvement. And the backhand – we all know that could be his shortcoming. Despite Golan's two-handed backhand slap, I believe he has a clear idea of how to improve Tsitsipas' technique. It will be interesting to see how their cooperation will develop.

……

It is reported that Ivanisevic is expected to appear in the box of Tsitsipas as a coach for the first time at the ATP 500 Halle grass tournament on June 16, and the journey of the two is about to begin, and fans are also looking forward to their future performance on the court.
