Zheng Qinwen returned to No.5, and Musetti and Paul set new highs

With the French Open, the second Grand Slam tournament of the year, coming to an end, and the drama of this year's clay season coming to an end, let's take a look at what's happening in the latest edition of the rankings this week.

Zheng Qinwen

Zheng Qinwen returned to No.5

China's Zheng Qinwen set her best record at the French Open this year, winning four straight matches to reach the quarter-finals before losing to the world No. 1 in the quarter-finals, and the Olympic gold medallist won 10 straight victories in Paris. Zheng Qinwen's world ranking rose two places this week to No. 5, tying his personal high.

Boisson

Boissons soared in the rankings

The 22-year-old reached the semi-finals of her career Grand Slam debut with seeded Mertens, Pegula and Andreeva, becoming the first player to do so since Capriati at the 1990 French Open. She had previously only played in one main event of the WTA 250 Rouen in April (which ended in the second round).

Boisson is the lowest-ranked Grand Slam semi-finalist in the last 40 years at No. 361 (excluding unranked players). This week, she soared 296 places to No.65 in the world rankings, the largest jump to the top 100 in a single ranking this century. Boisson's career-high ranking was 152nd (last May) before she was sidelined for nine months due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Mboko

Mboko entered the top 100 for the first time

The 18-year-old Canadian rising star Mboko qualified for the third round of the French Open in his first Grand Slam tournament (starting with qualifying). She started the year at No. 333 and rose 29 places to No.91 in the world rankings this week.

Bublik

Bublik is back in the top 50

The 27-year-old defeated De Minaur and Draper at the French Open to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, and finally lost to world No. 1 Sinner in the quarter-finals. His world ranking rose 19 places to No.43 this week.

Musetti

Musetti set a new personal high in the rankings

He had an excellent clay season and Italy's Musetti continued his hot form at the French Open to reach the semi-finals. Musetti has a 19-4 record on clay this year, having reached the final of the Monte Carlo Masters for the first time and reached the semi-finals in Madrid and Rome. The 23-year-old knocked out seeded Rune and Tiafoe to set a personal best record at the French Open and moved up one place to a new personal high of No.6.

Paul

Paul rose to his personal highest ranking

American star Paul also set a new personal high this week, and he and Tiafoe both became the first American male player to reach the quarterfinals in Paris since Andre Agassi in 2003, returning to the top 10. Paul went through two five-set battles at the French Open, beating Khachanov and Fociovic respectively, and he lost to eventual champion Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.

Fonseca

Fonseca set a career-high ranking

The 18-year-old Brazilian star shone again at the Grand Slam event, beating Poland's Hurkacz and homegrown sensation Herbert for the first time at the French Open to reach the third round of a Grand Slam tournament. Fonseca's world ranking rose eight places this week to No.57, entering the top 60 mark for the first time.
