Comparison of the seeding line-up for next week's ATP 500 grass court tournament Queen's Cup and Harley

There are two ATP 500 grass court events next week: the Queen's Cup in Great Britain and the Halle Open in Germany. These are the two most important warm-up matches before Wimbledon.

Every player has their favorite tournament, either because they have won a championship, or because it is a hometown tournament, etc.

Comparing the seeding line-ups of today's two tournaments, there are different characteristics.

The Queen's Cup, led by Alcaraz and Draper

Alcaraz is the 2023 Queen's Cup winner, and Draper is an English player who of course supports the hometown competition.

Five of the eight seeded players are post-00 players: Alcaraz, Draper, Rune, Shelton and Mensik.

Three of the eight seeded players are Americans: Fritz, Sheldon and Tiafoe. Defending champion Paul retired due to injury, otherwise he would have been in the draw. In addition, there are a number of American players in the draw: Opelka, Nakashima and Brooksby.

In addition to the No. 2 seed Draper, there are several British players in the draw: Norrie, Billy. Harris, W. C., Fearnley, Evans, W. C. This is the strongest squad of British players at the moment. There were also three British players in the qualifying round, one of whom advanced to the second round (H. Brown). Searle, 7-6(0), 7-6(6) over China's Buyun Chaokert).

Sinner and Zverev lead the Halle Open

Sinner is the defending champion of the tournament and is naturally looking to defend his title. Zverev has reached the final in Stuttgart this week and will be on the hunt for his home competition. Sadly, however, he has yet to win a grass-court title among his 24 tour titles. Hopefully he can do something this year, even if not in Halle, but in the final in Stuttgart.

Unlike the seeded lineup of the Queen's Cup, except for Sinner, all of the eight seeded players are post-95 players. …… No, no, seventh seed Mahachi was a 2000 player.

The former Russian trio – Dmitry Medvedev, Rublev and Khachanov – all chose to compete in Germany.

In addition, 2023 champion Bublik, 2022 champion Hurkacz, and 2021 champion Amber (6) are all in the draw.

There are also two wild cards in the draw, Altmaier and Struf. Four Germans competed in the qualifying round, with Huffmann and 17-year-old Engel advancing to the second qualifying round. Engel is a teenager to look forward to, having reached the quarter-finals in Stuttgart.

Of the seven tour-level grass court events, the Queen's Cup and the Halle Open are the two grass court events after the Wimbledon Grand Slam. Murray and Federer won multiple titles in both events.

Murray is a five-time Queen's Cup winner (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015-2016).

Federer is a 10-time winner of Halle (2003-2006, 2008, 2013-2015, 2017, 2019).

Murray has never raced in Halle, and Federer has never played in the Queen's Cup.
