On Friday, at the Toronto Open, Davidovich Fokina became the second player this season to achieve 20 hard court wins, also locking in a place in the fourth round.
In the bottom half, Fritz leads the way, advancing alongside Tiafoe and Shelton to the fourth round. Including Michelson and Lehecka from the top half, five American players have made it to the fourth round.
The 26-year-old Spanish playerFokina defeated rising Czech player Jakub Menšík with scores of 6-2/6-4,bringing their ATP head-to-head record to 4 wins and 1 loss in his favor. Last week in the Washington final, Fokina missed three championship points against De Minaur, but this week he and the Australian player have both reached 20 hard court wins in 2025.
Thanks to his outstanding performance last week in Washington, Fokina has entered the world’s top 20 for the first time, currently ranking 18th in the ATP live rankings, and sitting 11th in the ATP Turin Finals live points table.
6th seed Rublev triumphed over 28th seed Sonego with scores of 5-7/6-4/6-3.After a fierce battle lasting 2 hours and 32 minutes, Rublev turned the match around for victory. This marks his first hard court win against a top 50 player since defeating Jack Draper in the Doha final back in February. In the fourth round, Rublev will face Fokina, holding a 5-1 lead in their head-to-head record, although their most recent encounter was in April at the Barcelona event, where Rublev lost.
7th seed Tiafoe won against Alexander Bublik with scores of 6-3, 4-6, 6-3,and will face Washington champion De Minaur in the fourth round.
9th seed De Minaurreceived a walkover from compatriot O'Connell, advancing directly to the fourth round.
13th seed Cobollidefeated Hungarian player Mager with scores of 6-2/4-6/6-3. This match once again showcased the strength of the 23-year-old Italian player. His opponent in the fourth round will be 4th seed Shelton, with a head-to-head record of 2-1.
In an all-American derby,4th seed Sheltondefeated 25th seed Nishioka with scores of 6-7(8)/6-2/7-6(5), becoming the fifth American player to reach the last 16.
19th seed Leheckastruggled to defeat returning 15th seed Fils with scores of 3-6/6-3/6-4, advancing to the fourth round. He will face 2nd seed Fritz in the next round.
2nd seed Fritzdefeated 27th seed Diallo with scores of 6-4/6-2. Fritz will meet Czech player Lehecka in the fourth round, holding a 3-0 head-to-head record.
