On August 18, the 2025 WTA 1000 Cincinnati event concluded with the championship match. Rolex ambassador and third seed Swiatek prevailed over seventh seed Paolini 7-5, 6-4, securing her maiden title at this tournament without losing a set. It is her 11th WTA 1000 title and 24th career trophy.
Swiatek had won all five of their prior meetings. In this match, Paolini started strong, breaking serve to lead 3-0, but Swiatek responded by taking five games in a row. Paolini fought back, breaking to level at 5-5, but Swiatek ultimately clinched the first set 7-5. The second set saw multiple breaks from both players, but Swiatek held firm at the end to seal the victory 6-4.
With this triumph, Swiatek’s world ranking will surpass Gauff’s, returning her to No.2, and securing the US Open second seed spot. After the match, she said, “You (Paolini) played really well, and I hope we meet again in the US Open final. I won this tournament, but based on my past results, this was probably the event where I had the lowest chance of winning. Thanks to my team for helping me become a better player and learn how to compete on fast courts.”
After the match, Paolini gave special thanks to her fellow countrywoman Errani: “A special thank you to Sara (Errani), who isn’t here today because she’s playing US Open mixed doubles tomorrow. She’s always supported me and helped me a lot. I’ve learned so much from her.”
