The International Tennis Masters Tournament Meets Jiangnan Beyond the Great Wall

From August 21 to 24, 2025, the ITF International Tennis Masters (MT100) Yinchuan leg will commence at the Guangming Square Tennis Courts in Ningxia Gymnasium. As an essential part of the "Ningxia Tennis Season," this event is the first ITF International Tennis Masters to be held in Ningxia, not only marking a milestone for tennis development in the Northwest, but also providing a platform for the world to experience the unique appeal of "Jiangnan Beyond the Great Wall."

The ITF International Tennis Masters is an international amateur tennis event organized by the International Tennis Federation for enthusiasts aged 30 to 75 from various countries and regions. The tournament is divided into levels from highest to lowest: MT1000, MT700, MT400, MT200, and MT100. It brings together tennis lovers from all age groups, fosters cultural exchange between nations, and has made a significant contribution to the promotion and development of tennis worldwide.

In 2019, the Chinese Tennis Association introduced the ITF International Tennis Masters to China for the first time. Over the following years, more than 500 tournaments were successfully held, attracting over 50,000 participants. By coming to Yinchuan, the event will further boost the development of regional sports brands in Ningxia, strengthen the foundation for "Sports Ningxia," and promote the concept of "Lifelong Tennis."

With the continued success of the ITF International Tennis Masters, countless tennis fans now have the chance to travel with their rackets. Ningxia, known as "Jiangnan Beyond the Great Wall," is ready to offer tennis enthusiasts a spectacular blend of sports and tourism experiences.

Ningxia, a historically vital part of the Silk Road, is renowned for its beautiful landscapes and the nickname "Jiangnan Beyond the Great Wall." Located on the upper reaches of the Yellow River, bordered by the Helan Mountains to the north and the Liupan Mountains to the south, the region features diverse landforms—mountains, deserts, lakes, wetlands, and canyons—earning it the reputation of being a "miniature panorama of Chinese tourism."

The Shahu Nature Reserve in Ningxia is a national 5A tourist attraction and recognized as one of "China's Top Ten Charming Wetlands." Here, visitors can enjoy both the gentle beauty of southern river towns and the vast magnificence of desert scenery. The Shahu Tourist Area combines natural features such as golden sands, clear waters, distant mountains, lush reeds, colorful lotuses, flying birds, and swimming fish, and offers attractions like a petting zoo, Swan Island, sand sculpture exhibitions, drift boats, water jetpacks, parasailing, camel rides, and off-road vehicles. Athletes participating in the Yinchuan event can receive complimentary admission with valid credentials, and discounts on bundled tickets within the scenic area.

Besides Shahu, Mingcui Lake National Wetland Park in Yinchuan is another excellent spot for enjoying natural scenery. The park boasts shimmering waters, willows, lush grasses, flocks of birds, and leaping fish, making it the largest natural wetland reserve in eastern Yinchuan. The Ningxia Museum is the perfect place to quickly learn about the region's history and culture, housing nearly 40,000 precious artifacts, including national treasures such as the Hu Xuan Dance stone-carved tomb gate, gilded bronze ox, and the Lishi Zhiwen support. The Western Xia Tombs, located at the eastern foot of the southern Helan Mountains in Yinchuan, are known as the "Pyramids of the East," and their rich historical relics hold significant importance in world civilization. Other attractions like the Chengtian Temple Pagoda and the Helan Mountain rock paintings also allow visitors to experience the region's deep historical and cultural atmosphere.

It is worth mentioning that, as a major event organized by the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Sports Bureau, the 2025 "Ningxia Tennis Season" runs from July to September, featuring a variety of branded competitions including youth sports summer camps, the ITF International Men’s Tennis Tour (Yinchuan leg), and the Family Cup Tennis Invitational. The introduction of the ITF International Tennis Masters signifies the rapid elevation of Ningxia’s city profile on the global stage and supports the advancement of a healthier Ningxia.

Ningxia will pursue an integrated "Sports+" development model, advancing through approaches such as sports-education integration, sports-tourism synergy, and sports-technology collaboration, thereby creating stronger cross-sector momentum and synergy, and effectively unleashing the intrinsic growth potential of the sports industry.
