Teams are actively recruiting foreign players for the second round of the National Volleyball Championship.
The second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship is about to start, with competition intensifying as many clubs simultaneously add foreign players. From successful women's teams like VTV Bình Điền Long An and the Information Army to ambitious squads such as Thanh Hóa, Công Thương Bank, and the men’s Tây Ninh, all show strong determination by hiring international spikers.
Công Thương Bank was among the first teams to finalize their foreign player. Since they could not register main hitter Đặng Thị Hồng for phase two, the coaching staff signed Anna Belyanskaya, a young Russian athlete born in 2005, standing 1.90m tall with a spike reach over 3.10m. Anna is expected to significantly boost Công Thương Bank’s offense, especially as the team aims to make a breakthrough in this crucial stage.
Meanwhile, VTV Bình Điền Long An, the reigning women’s national champions, quickly secured a contract with American outside hitter Roni Jones-Perry. At 1.83m tall with an attacking reach over 3.30m, she has competed in strong leagues in Poland, Brazil, and Italy. She will arrive in Vietnam on September 30 and start training with the team on October 1. With her vast experience, Roni is regarded as one of the highest-quality foreign players participating this year.
The Thanh Hóa women's team also joined the competition by signing Leah Hardeman from the USA. Standing 1.81m tall, Leah has competed in Italy, France, the USA, and Greece, known for her powerful finishing in difficult situations. She is expected to join Thanh Hóa on September 25, enhancing the team’s competitiveness in round two.
On the men's side, Tây Ninh (formerly Long An) reached an agreement with Anurak Phanram, a Thai outside hitter. Though only 1.83m tall, Anurak has an impressive jump reach of about 3.22m and is a familiar figure on Thailand’s national team in international competitions. He is scheduled to arrive in Vietnam on September 22 to join his teammates before the second phase begins.

Notably, the Information Army is very close to signing Irina Voronkova, a famous spiker from the Russian women's national team. Standing 1.90m tall with a 3.10m spike reach and an impressive record, Irina won the "Best Attacker" award at the Russian Volleyball Cup and the 2024-2025 Superleague. If this deal is completed, she will be one of the most notable foreign players in phase two.
Conversely, Sanest Khánh Hòa faces difficulties as their foreign player Evandro Dias de Souza (Brazil) cannot arrive in Vietnam on schedule, forcing the team to find a replacement. This is a significant setback since Evandro was considered a key spiker who could help Sanest Khánh Hòa compete fairly with strong opponents.
The presence of quality foreign players from the USA, Russia, and Thailand in the second round of the 2025 National Championship not only strengthens the teams but also promises more thrilling and exciting matches for the audience. In the final phase, when the goals of reaching the final round or avoiding relegation become major pressures, teams regard foreign players as strategic cards to make a difference.
It is evident that systematic investment in foreign players is becoming an inevitable trend in Vietnamese volleyball. Not only does it elevate the tournament’s quality, but it also provides local athletes opportunities to gain experience and develop international competitive spirit right on their home turf. All this promises an explosive second phase, where the competition will be fiercer than ever.
The second round of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will be held from October 7 to October 16 in Ninh Bình.
