The attacker Trần Thị Thanh Thúy is preparing for her debut in the Japanese National Volleyball League 2025/2026 season on October 12th.
Thanh Thúy will officially take the court with Gunma Green Wings in the opening match of the 2025 Japanese Volleyball League, facing Queenseis Kariya on October 12th. This marks her second consecutive season playing in Japan, but this return carries higher expectations as she has been training with the team for over a month to get ready for the new season.
Previously, while playing for PFU BlueCats, Thanh Thúy was positioned as a left-side hitter, but at Gunma Green Wings, she has returned to her preferred role as an outside hitter.
In recent friendly matches and training sessions, the coaching staff has consistently placed Thanh Thúy in this role, indicating a strong likelihood she will be the main outside hitter in the upcoming season's lineup.
Standing at 1.90 meters, Thanh Thúy is the tallest player on the team, surpassing the two foreign players Nasya Dimitrova (Bulgaria) and Olivia Rozanski (Poland). More importantly, the top star of Vietnamese women's volleyball has shown remarkable recovery following her injury earlier in 2024.
Her agile jumps, powerful spikes, and accuracy in attacks demonstrated during training sessions have raised high hopes among the coaching staff and fans for her performance in the new season.
The head coach and the coaching team of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team are closely monitoring Thanh Thúy's performance in Japan. Her strong form is crucial for the Vietnamese national team ahead of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this December, where the team aims to break Thailand's dominance and win the women's volleyball gold medal in the regional competition for the first time.
