Vietnam's men's volleyball team will confront host Thailand, while the women's volleyball team benefits from a favorable indoor volleyball draw at SEA Games 33
In the men's volleyball event, eight teams are participating, and according to the draw, Vietnam's men's volleyball team is in Group A along with host Thailand, Singapore, and Laos.
With this result, we will have an early rematch against the host Thailand. At SEA Games 32, Thailand's men's volleyball team won 3-1 over Vietnam in the group stage, but we successfully avenged that loss by defeating Thailand 3-0 in the bronze medal match.
Vietnam women's volleyball team benefits from the draw results at SEA Games 33
Meanwhile, Group B in men's volleyball at SEA Games 33 includes Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Once again, the draw has produced a rivalry clash between defending champions Indonesia and runners-up Cambodia.
At SEA Games 32, Indonesia defeated Vietnam 3-0, while Cambodia beat Thailand 3-2 in the semifinals. In the final, Indonesia defeated Cambodia 3-0 to win the gold medal.
In the women's volleyball event, seven teams are competing, and according to the draw, Vietnam's women's volleyball team is in Group B with Indonesia, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
This draw can be considered quite "comfortable" for Vietnam's women's volleyball team since they do not have to face the host Thailand in the group stage.
Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar are not truly tough opponents if Coach Tuan Kiet's players perform at their best.
With this draw, it is very likely that Vietnam's women's volleyball team will top Group B and is expected to face the Philippines (likely second in Group A) in the semifinals.
The route to the gold medal final in women's volleyball at SEA Games 33 is wide open for Coach Tuan Kiet's team, even though we will be without Bich Tuyen.
