Gunma Green Wings is soaring high in the 2025-2026 Japan Women's Volleyball National Championship, with main attacker Trần Thị Thanh Thúy playing a crucial role.
A convincing 3-0 victory over Hitachi Rivale last week helped Gunma Green Wings reach 14 wins, climbing up to 4th place on the standings of the 2025-2026 Japan Women's Volleyball National Championship. This marks a historic milestone, representing the highest ranking the blue-clad team has ever achieved since its establishment.
Few could have predicted that just one season after earning promotion, Gunma Green Wings would quickly break into the leading group and be ready to compete on equal footing with the long-established names of Japanese women's volleyball. This success stems from a well-planned team-building strategy, especially the selection of foreign players that fit the team’s playing philosophy.
All three foreign players wearing the Gunma Green Wings jersey — Olivia Rozanski, Nasya Dimitrova, and especially Trần Thị Thanh Thúy — are making significant impacts. The main attacker born in 1997 not only delivers consistent offensive power but also exerts a clear influence on the overall team play.
Up to now, Thanh Thúy has scored a total of 303 points, ranking among the top 14 highest scorers in the tournament. She has also been honored twice as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match. The Vietnamese hitter’s attack efficiency stands at 43.8%, placing her among the top 12 players with the highest scoring efficiency in the league. "4T" will also participate in the All-Star event gathering the league’s stars at the end of this month.
Trần Thị Thanh Thúy is currently the Vietnamese volleyball player with the most international experience, having played abroad seven times. Her impressive performance in Japan has made the 29-year-old main attacker one of the most closely watched names by experts and clubs ahead of the next season of the Japan National Championship.
