Former national player Nguyễn Thị Kim Liên has officially ended her tenure with LPB Ninh Bình women's volleyball team after their contract expired on December 31, 2025. Leaving the team from the ancient capital marks a new chapter in the career of this experienced libero, whose future is attracting significant interest from experts.
According to sources, Kim Liên is currently being approached by XMLS Thanh Hóa women's volleyball team, with negotiations underway for a contract to play in the 2026 season. Although no official announcement has been made, the likelihood of reaching an agreement is considered very high.
In the last season, Kim Liên was one of the key players for LPB Ninh Bình. Playing in her specialized position as libero, she contributed significantly to the team’s achieving the runner-up position in the 2025 National Championship. With her solid playing style, excellent game reading ability, and extensive experience, Kim Liên has always been a reliable defensive anchor, providing stability for the entire team.
Graduating from the VTV Bình Điền Long An youth academy, Kim Liên spent many years playing successfully for the Western region team, helping the club win 4 national championships. Later, the player born in 1993 moved to play for Quảng Ninh, LPB Ninh Bình, and now Thanh Hóa.
Nguyễn Thị Kim Liên also had a memorable period representing the Vietnamese women's national volleyball team, so much so that even now, many people immediately think of this 32-year-old star when mentioning the libero position on the national team. Kim Liên was part of the squad that won 4 SEA Games silver medals (2011, 2013, 2019, and 2022); 3 VTV Cup titles; and 1 AVC Challenge Cup gold medal (now known as the AVC Nations Cup).
