Even without a stellar performance, Long Son Cement Thanh Hoa managed a 3-1 win against Geleximco Hung Yen, enhancing their position in the women's national volleyball championship 2026.
The 3-1 victory over Geleximco Hung Yen temporarily boosted Long Son Cement Thanh Hoa's standing on the rankings, but the team's performance still raised questions about their stability in the race for the Hung Vuong Cup qualification in the 2026 national volleyball championship.
Entering the match against the weakest-rated opponent in the tournament, Long Son Cement Thanh Hoa was expected to deliver a convincing win. However, the opening set revealed a lack of focus from Coach Bui Huy Son's team.

Thanh Hoa started slowly, with ineffective blocking and continuous errors in backcourt defense. Geleximco Hung Yen capitalized well, playing persistently in extended rallies. The final points of the set were tense, and the Hung Yen team surprised by narrowly winning 26-24, taking a 1-0 lead.
This lost set forced Long Son Cement Thanh Hoa to adjust. In the second set, the Thanh region team clearly improved in serving and offensive organization. The pace of the match increased, and more effective wing attacks helped Thanh Hoa quickly build a large gap.
Meanwhile, Geleximco Hung Yen failed to maintain stability, committing many first-step errors that limited their attacking capabilities. Thanh Hoa easily closed the set with a wide margin of 25-13, bringing the match back to square one.
In the third set, the match became more balanced as Geleximco Hung Yen fought to keep up. However, composure and squad depth allowed Thanh Hoa to maintain their advantage. Still, the Thanh team's performance was not entirely convincing. The defense was occasionally shaky, and poor first-step handling disrupted their play. Expected key players like Cai Xiaoqing and Hoang Thi Thao did not make a clear impact. Nevertheless, Thanh Hoa capitalized well when their opponent weakened, winning 25-20 to lead 2-1.
The fourth set witnessed a rapid collapse of Geleximco Hung Yen. Declining morale and stamina led to continuous point losses. Thanh Hoa fully exploited this advantage, dominating completely from start to finish. The gap widened quickly, and the set ended swiftly at 25-10, sealing a 3-1 victory for Long Son Cement Thanh Hoa.
With this third win in the tournament, Long Son Cement Thanh Hoa rose from 7th place to 4th, thereby rejoining the race for the Hung Vuong Cup qualification.
However, to compete with stronger teams, Coach Bui Huy Son's squad certainly needs to improve stability, especially in defense and reducing individual errors. Against a weak opponent like Geleximco Hung Yen, an unconvincing victory still cannot fully reassure the fans.
