This is the player who stole the show at last month's VTV9-Bình Điền Cup in Tây Ninh, playing a key role in Jiangsu's title victory.
Chinese spiker Zhou Yetong was called up to the national team to participate in Week 1 of the 2026 VNL which starts on June 3 (Hanoi time).
Zhou Yetong, born in 2002, plays as an opposite spiker with a height of 1.86m, a spike reach of 3.19m, and a block reach of 3.12m. She currently belongs to Jiangsu Club and was part of the squad that recently traveled to Vietnam for the 2026 VTV9-Bình Điền Cup.
In this tournament, Zhou, along with her teammates Fan Boning and Wan Ziyue, delivered outstanding performances, contributing significantly to Jiangsu's championship victory after a fairly easy win over VTV Bình Điền Long An in the final. The 24-year-old spiker also earned the title of Best Opposite Spiker of the tournament.
Zhou Yetong possesses impressive jumping ability and a very crafty playing style, easily overwhelming the blockers at this year's VTV9-Bình Điền Cup, leaving a good impression on Vietnamese volleyball fans.
The Jiangsu athlete was initially not on the list for Week 1 of the 2026 VNL for the Chinese women's volleyball team. She was called up after her club teammate Wu Mengjie suffered an injury and had to leave the national team. Recently, when the official roster was announced, Zhou can be confident about her VNL spot.
China will play on home soil in Nanjing during the first week of this year's VNL. According to the schedule, Zhou Yetong and her teammates will face the Czech Republic (June 3), Thailand (June 4), Serbia (June 6), and Poland (June 7).
Since they are also the hosts of this year's VNL Finals (held in Macau), China has already secured a spot in the next round. However, the second-ranked women's volleyball team in Asia will still play hard to accumulate points and ensure their ranking on the FIVB standings.
