The 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Cup will take place from June 6 to June 14 in the Philippines, featuring 12 top Asian teams: Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong (China). This is regarded as one of the most important continental women's volleyball events of the year, offering teams a chance to assert their standing and prepare for larger international competitions in the future.
Under the competition format, the 12 teams are divided into two groups. Group A includes the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Australia, and Uzbekistan. Group B consists of Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), and Lebanon. Teams play a single round-robin to earn points, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals. The remaining teams will compete in placement matches to determine positions from 5th to 12th.

The spotlight of the AVC Cup 2026 remains on the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt and his players arrive in the Philippines as the defending champions and are considered strong contenders for the title. After weeks of intensive training and preparation, the coaching staff has finalized a 14-player roster featuring prominent names such as captain Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, middle blocker Trần Thị Bích Thủy, libero Nguyễn Khánh Đang, and setter Võ Thị Kim Thoa.
However, Vietnam's path to defending the championship is expected to face considerable challenges. Opponents like Kazakhstan, Iran, South Korea, and host nation Philippines have invested heavily in their squads and aim to advance deep into the tournament. Therefore, the level of competition is anticipated to be significantly higher than in previous editions.
Beyond the technical aspects, the Vietnamese team must also adapt to an unusual match schedule. Most of their group-stage games start at 8 a.m. Vietnam time, requiring players to adjust their daily routines and training habits. During the preparation period, the coaching staff has increased morning training sessions to help the team acclimate to the intensity of competing at that official time slot.
