Russian women's volleyball participates in VTV Cup 2026

Russian volleyball's participation promises to enhance the professional quality of the VTV Cup this season.

Two strong Russian volleyball clubs, Korabelka and Dinamo Anapa, have been confirmed for the VTV Cup 2026, held at Vinh Yen Gymnasium (Phu Tho) from August 8 to 15.

This year's tournament again gathers many high-quality teams, and the Russian representatives are attracting special interest from experts. This is considered a valuable chance for the Vietnamese women's national team to gain match practice and experience in preparation for two major events: the Asian Championship in Tianjin, China at the end of August, and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from mid-September to early October.

Korabelka is a familiar name to Vietnamese volleyball fans. Over the past two seasons, this club has faced the Vietnamese women's team in the VTV Cup final and won both times to claim the championship. In the 2025-2026 season of the Russian Super League, Korabelka finished in seventh place overall.

Dinamo Anapa, on the other hand, placed third in the Vischaya Liga A, Russia's second-tier professional club volleyball league, which is comparable to Vietnam's National A Division.

Another noteworthy point is the outside hitter Elizaveta Nesterova of Korabelka, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the VTV Cup in 2024 and 2025, has just been selected for the Russian women's national team in 2026. If she appears in the VTV Cup, she is expected to dominate the tournament again and draw huge attention from fans.

For the Vietnamese women's team, the VTV Cup 2026 occurs during a dense international schedule. Because its timing overlaps with the SEA V.League 2026 leg, head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will likely field two different squads to ensure adequate strength for both competitions.
