The Vietnamese women's volleyball team fell to South Korea in the AVC Cup 2026 semifinals, missing out on the championship.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball squad missed their chance to win the AVC Cup 2026 championship following a 0-3 defeat against South Korea in the semifinal held on the night of June 13.

This outcome also cost the Vietnamese women's volleyball team a place in the final, preventing them from competing for the title for the fourth consecutive time.

In the first set, Vietnam struggled against South Korea's fast-paced style and strong serving pressure. The opponents effectively targeted weaknesses in the first pass, disrupting Vietnam's offensive system. Thanh Thuy and her teammates were consistently behind in points before losing 20-25.

In the second set, Vietnam improved their first-pass reception at times. However, they still made several errors in critical plays, while South Korea maintained stability and efficiency in attack. The Korean team won 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead.

In the third set, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's players displayed strong determination. Vietnam at one point led 20-18 and had an opportunity to force a fourth set. But a lack of focus in the final points caused them to lose the advantage. South Korea scored key points in succession to rally and win 25-22, thereby closing the match with a 3-0 victory.

With set scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-22, South Korea earned a spot in the AVC Cup 2026 final. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team concluded their title defense and will play in the third-place match.

The AVC Cup 2026 final will see a showdown between Chinese Taipei and South Korea on June 14. On the same day, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face Kazakhstan in the match for third place.
