The Vietnam women's volleyball team finished the AVC Cup 2026 with a convincing display, beating Kazakhstan 3-0 in the bronze medal match. This win was a sweet payback following their earlier defeat to the same rivals in the preliminary round.
Entering the match with a calm mentality, Vietnam quickly asserted their dominance. In the first set, consistent passing and a solid defensive system helped the red-shirted team limit Kazakhstan's attacking power. Facing the opponent's superior block height, Vietnamese spikers actively changed their approach with clever dinks and technical plays.
Thanh Thuy and her teammates maintained a safe lead before closing out the first set with a 25-17 victory.
In the second set, Vietnam continued to dominate the game. Kazakhstan's back row made repeated errors, while Bich Thuy stood out with effective attacks and delicate ball handling. A comfortable lead was maintained throughout, allowing Vietnam to easily win 25-12.

The third set saw Kazakhstan's efforts to bounce back, as both teams were locked in a close battle early on. However, Vietnam's stability quickly paid off. Consecutive passing errors disrupted Kazakhstan's rhythm, enabling Vietnam to pull ahead. At crucial moments, every player on the roster performed solidly, especially Bich Thuy and Vi Quynh. Vietnam capitalized on the opportunities to win 25-19, completing a 3-0 sweep.
In the recent victory, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy remained the top scorer for Vietnam with a total of 16 points (60.9% + 1 block + 1 ace). She was followed by Tran Thi Bich Thuy with 15 points (58.3% + 1 block), and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh with 13 points (42.9% + 1 block). Middle blocker Le Thanh Thuy also contributed 8 points (66.7% + 2 blocks).
